Everyone enjoys time spent outside and on a patio—whether that means starting your morning outside, inviting friends over, or enjoying a nice day outside. With summer close, we’re getting our outdoor spaces prepped for the fun times that will be happening!
If there is one thing we have learned in from quarantine, our homes are truly our sanctuary. And, as summer approaches, having a great outdoor space to entertain, relax, it is way more valuable than ever before.
If you are looking to upgrade your outdoor spaces, now is the time to do it. Whether your budget and vision are small or large, there are hundreds of ways to create the ultimate outdoor entertaining space.
Here are 5 tips to keep in mind!
1. Bring the Inside Out
We all love to feel comfortable at home, so that should include your outdoor space too. Whether you have a patio or balcony, there is always a way to make it feel cozier. Something we recommend is to make use of the items you normally use indoors. For furniture, this may look like getting an outdoor sofa. If you are entertaining, you can bring out a table and style it with cloth napkins, silverware, and wine glasses.
This keeps it fun, light, and gives off a more relaxed feeling. You can also create a mini-bar outside by filling a tin bucket with ice and champagne or beer. If alcohol is not your thing, try candles or flowers!
Bonus tip: Treat your outdoor space as if you would a room in your home. This is going to change how you decorate it!
2. Bring Out the Light!
Lighting is so important to create a mood in the space. When it begins to get dark out, there are a few options you can have to brighten up the space.
The first is using candles! Candlelight illuminates and softens, and creates a sense of intimacy. Hop onto Pinterest to find loads of ideas on how to perfectly style it to your taste. From mason jars to individual ones there is a perfect fit for you.
The second option I would recommend is lights. You can decorate trees or your porch with string lights!
3. Keep It Natural
Using elements of nature in your outdoor space is sure to give it life. Whether you love having a bounty of flowers around, a garden, or prefer low maintenance plants, use them! If your space allows, you can also add a bonfire pit!
4. Add Details
Small personal touches you add to a space make it uniquely yours. Add decorative throw pillows, blankets, candles, flowers, and anything else really complete a space. Review your space to decide what personal touches you’d like to add.
5. Create Dimension
Don’t be afraid to use the walls and/or ceilings in your outdoor space. If you only use furniture on a patio and don’t build up a little, your space can look a little flat. Give your space a little dimension by adding in shelves, hanging lanterns.
Just watch your space transform with those little tweaks!
